Featherston is famous as being the town at the end of the world reknowned Rimutaka
Incline. It has a fell engine in its museum - it hosts the French
Fair at Tauherinikau Racecourse and has been a service town for the
Wairarapa for many years.

Masterton is the largest town in Wairarapa and has good shopping facilites as
well as the Shear Discovery Centre - lots of historical things to see.
It has a Farmers Market on a Saturday morning and is the terminus
for the Wairarapa Line which serves as a commuter link to Wellington.
